If Dida sounds like an unfamiliar name to you, it wouldn’t be surprising, considering it’s a beauty brand barely a year old. But if you have heard of it, it’s likely because although young and building its product categories with time, Dida’s products, specifically their matte liquid lipstick range, have already started stirring conversation with their cream-to-matte finishes and rich colour payoffs.
What do we love so much about Dida? The simple answer is, we get quality for price. Where a Kylie Lip Kit would cost roughly RM 150 if you’re ordering through Lazada, and even Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks, having arrived in local Sephoras earlier in 2016, are nearly RM 100, DIDA’s perfectly pigmented, personalised lippies, which boast a moisturising, pigmented and water-proof finish settling to perfect, opaque matte, are available at less than half that price, each at RM 45.
It makes sense, considering it’s the brainchild of two women who wanted to create a line of cosmetics accessible and attractive to women from all walks of life. Under the direction of Tengku Chanela Jamidah and Didie Nasir, both veterans in the field with their own fashion labels, Dida is swiftly expanding, shipping not only to Malaysia but also Singapore, Indonesia and Brunei.
So how does Dida’s matte liquid lip creams fare against other liquid lippies in the market? Let’s take a look.
